Standard matte box wings are long. Usually that’s fine. But in tight dialogue, over the shoulder shots, steadicam shots, anything where the camera needs to be close, a full-length wing could clip the talent.

The halfwing solves that. It only extends 3″ from the matte box sunshade: long enough to flag the lens, short enough to get in tight. A blunted ABS bumper just in case you do make contact.
